Set automatic dialup times

I would like to program my computer to automatically dial up one of my internet connections at 6pm. Is this possible and, if so, how do I do it?

Yes, it is possible. First of all you need Internet Explorer (or any other browser) set up to open with a web page of your choice. You also need Windows set up to dial out on demand. These are the default settings for most people, so it shouldn't be difficult.

Now all you need to do is create a new task in the Windows Task Scheduler to run Internet Explorer (or any other browser you may be using) at the appointed time. We reckon you could probably also use a similar trick to start up Outlook Express automatically and have it collect your mail ready for reading, but we'll leave that idea for readers to experiment with.
